Android version when?

Hey there!
I would like to know if there is a way to change the resolution? Because in 4k it is driving me a little mad haha

(+1)

There's a scaling setting in the options!

(+1)

ahh thank you! I must have wrongly interpreted that, thanks for replying! (awesome game btw!)

I am a bloody idiot, but I found the option now and resized the window, but I can't get it back up with any mouse press or key (I accidentally made the window too small ;;) and reset options does not work with this either.

You should be able to enlarge the resolution with the left click! But if for some reason you can't, you can always close the game, delete the settings file (delete the file config.sav located in C:\Users\(NAME)\AppData\Local\PocketCrystalLeague), and launch the game again! That should fix it.

Just a note: It wasn't obvious in the tutorial that I had to pick Rattata (unless it said it in the text and I missed it, in which case, oops)/ I was trying to play Pidgey but it just wasn't working, until I realized I needed to play Rattata.

(+1)

I'm starting now and it clearly says that you have to play Rattata.

(+3)

hey is it alright if i try streaming this on twitch?

(+2)

Of course! Thank you!

(+8)

For anyone that likes to import their games to steam, I made some custom art for the steam grid and the banner

(+2)

That's so cool!!

(+2)

Such a fun game! Easy to pick up and kept me hooked for hours. If you ever add any content or make a sequel, it'd be another instant download for me.

(+2)

Having troubles moving to v1.2.6 from v1.2.0. If I delete the AppData .sav files I gain the attack-all functionality. If I restore the .sav files I get my cards back but lose the ability to use the attack-all shortcut keys... any workaround for this?

Great game btw, I am absolutely addicted!

(3 edits) (+2)

Maybe the step is to big. I can give you the version
1.2.3 1.2.4 1.2.5 and try to get to version 1.2.6 with some extra steps.
Join their discord and pm me if you want to try.

(1 edit) (+1)

That's strange! Please send me your save file to my email address (moodytail@protonmail.com) so I can check it out!

(+1)

Sent, thank you!

(+1)

I love this game, and I just went through and beat it all....and realized I did it on 1.0.0 (the bump up in legendary drops rates will feel real nice after an update hahaha). Is there a process for updating the game files? Will I encounter similar errors as blitaxos?

(+1)

Actually, I just followed the steps for transferring to a new device and it worked fine. The 80 characters were the same, so I imagine I could have just replaced the data.sav file and it would have worked to?

There won't be any issues! blitaxos' issue was not caused by the game, so don't worry.

(+1)

Actually such a fun game, I love it! Still haven't beaten it yet, but it's already going on my favorites in the site.

Thank you very much!

Is there a way to optimize deck and inventory screen loading? after you get 40+ cards in there, the game chokes for a second to load it.

(1 edit)

Sadly, I haven't found a way yet to make it lighter. Make sure to sell your unused cards, though!

Actually I noticed last night it's even less than 40: apparently the choking starts at 30 cards total.

It might have to do with either the cards themselves or the animations. Maybe splitting the view in pages would mitigate it?

(+2)

Great game, I'm currently trying to beat the 8 gym.

maybe it could have a bit more keyboard controls?

like a button to draw from the berries and one to draw from the pokemon pile.

also maybe would be possible to automate the placing of berries.
if you have enough berries in hand just dropping a pokemon onto a empty slot could make the needed berries to be dropped on the slot too?

thanks either way can't wait to see how the game keeps growing <3

(+1)

And perhaps an option to remind the player (via a prompt) that there's unused DP and for attacks that weren't done.

yeah totally.

(+3)

You can press A or the left arrow to draw from the berries, and D or the right arrow to draw from the pokemon deck.  (And W or the up arrow attacks).

(+1)

oh neat thanks, also just noticed that I got the 1.2.5 version a day before the update, so I didn't notice that I had an "old" version xD

(1 edit) (-1)

I don't really get the game, is it just "place card, attack" or does it has something else to it later on?

So far it feels like an auto battler without any of the auto parts and apparently there is no downside to loosing?

Not saying it's bad, i like the menu design, but i don't understand the point of it

(+1)(-1)

Still enjoying the game a lot although it can be a little grindy and too rng based at times. This is recified by the lact of punishment for losing though so it's not too big of an issue.

Here are my thoughts!

Should the final battle be re-balanced at all?  I do perfectly fine in the 4 battles leading up to it, but then I keep getting trounced in the last battle, since nearly all the other trainer's pokemon have been tributed to a high degree, and I just can't keep up with them, even with all mine at the max level.  That seems wildly unfair, considering how rare it is to come across the Tribute event yourself.  In order to get your deck tributed to the same extent, you'd need to grind over and over and over again to an unbelievable degree.

On a related note, I played a card with the Medic glyph on it during this battle, and it didn't heal one bit a pokemon I had played earlier that had in fact been tributed 3 times.  Is this a bug with the tribute enhancement or an issue with this last battle?

(1 edit)

Ok, after a couple more attempts of the final battle, I was finally able to beat it, but only because I lucked out and the other trainer only threw about 1 other heavy, maxed-out card at me before I was able to run him over instead.  I realize RNG does have a part in games like this, but it does feel like a huge difficulty spike between the final battles and the absolute last battle.

On the flip side, those last battles are a great source for money, since they pay high, and if you lose in the last battle, you get to keep all the money you got up to that point.  Incidentally, does saving really need to be disabled between the final battles, if the game ends up saving your progress regardless, should you lose in the last battle?

(+2)(-1)

I think this game has ruined Inscryption for me.  I've had it on my wishlist for awhile, since I love deck-builders and it's pretty well-loved, though I didn't know much else about it and avoided spoilers.  Well, I almost bought it last night knowing that it was a big inspiration for this game here.  Then, I saw that Inscryption had a demo, and WOW am I glad I tried it first.  The tutorial does an awful job at explaining the point of the game, the currency, what the W and S buttons/icons/whatever are supposed to do or represent, and even simply how to end your turn!  On top of that, I really dislike how I have to scroll back and forth just to see what's in my hand, versus what's on my side of the board versus, what's on the opponent's side of the board.

@Moodytail - your game is presented in such a more streamlined, easy-to-read layout that after playing the Inscryption demo for about 30 minutes and then uninstalling it, I had to compliment you on your design.  (I'll probably eventually try the other game again at some point, but now I know I should wait for a better sale or a bundle).

Inscryption has much more to it than what you see at the start (including other user interfaces), but I completely agree that this game is very well presented! Great job!

Oh I know - I've completed Pony Island, so I know what's in store for Inscryption.  It's just that I found that I got incredibly annoyed at the user interface for the part of the game covered by the demo - for one thing, I literally stared at the screen for awhile in the beginning trying to figure out what I was supposed to do to end my turn.

I should have started with that game and then moved on to PCL, but I didn't know at the time I started PCL that the gameplay was heavily influenced by Inscryption so I did it in reverse.

I fed my Clefable to much Rare Candy and it became God to break the enemy and me :|

New player here? Is rare candy really present in this game? and if it is, how can you obtain it?

No sorry my friend, i edited my save file to break the limit cap in this game for the sake of the video.

The meme at the end of the video inspired me to make a video like this. ^^

@General Banane can you share your sav file? also i have no idea what program you used to edit other than save edit online.

(+1)

@istoleyourname sorry for the late response for some reason i didn't get a notification and saw your post by pure luck.

I use this website you mentioned and upload my save file there to the the clear text like in you picture https://www.saveeditonline.com/

It's a a challenge to do what you want but for example you can change the type of card:

Search for "main_card_id_X": 251.0

The 'X' is random number given by the game and a intern ID, but i can change so be careful

The 251 is the Pokemon Celebi it's the exact same number as in the pokedex entry so go to the official pokemon site.

You can change the 251 to another Pokemon you want like 6 for Charizard

Change the value to "main_card_id_X": 6.0

Then click on 'download save data' at the end of the screen and replace the save file.

If you want my save file then join their discord and pm me and i will send it to you.

The Excel sheet was made by me ^^

Hope it helps

Great game, I've made a weird challenge thingy. Not balanced in anyway, vague & none of the achievements are suggestions for actual achievements if they are ever to be added. Feel free to do whatever you want with this weird thing i've created.Wacky

This is awesome!!

I have a question, are there shiny variants of mons cards? I would love to see that (And to get some too, by being lucky) Like there are shiny mons in the original games, I would love to have the possibility here as well

(+2)

I really wish this is in mobile so i can play in between breaks at work lol. Also i hope u add more content at least up till 3rd gen. The first 3 gen have always been my favorite, i dont mind if the later gen isnt added. But i guess its called crystal for a reason :(

(+2)

I have to say this is amazing and so much fun, Now I know you technically cant get any monetization from this but i would pay for a full decked out version (pun intended) of this with more features

(+1)

I agree with this!

(+1)

I do have one recommendation for a future update.  Multiple save files.  Please. xD

(+2)

You can just save the save files with a new name to start a new save and rename later to go back. The FAQ on the discord should have a path to the save file.

(+3)

This is an incredibly fun, addicting game. I used to love pokemon games but as I got a full time job, I got bored of them and couldn't even play something for more than 15 min. I could play this game for hours. This game is what made me return to gaming.

(2 edits) (+3)

I made an account just to tell you that this game is amazing. I'm on my way to making a living dex right now, and was wondering if all of the Legendary birds and dogs are in this as well as Ho-Oh and Lugia? I have Mew, so I assume Mewtwo is in it, but haven't found anyone other than Mew yet. I really hope that this doesn't get taken down by Nintendo, it's truly fun and I've spent around 10 hours or more on it the past two days and hope to find all the Pokemon (:

Couple pieces of advice on gameplay, is that it's a bit tough to get out Glyph'd Pokemon unless you spam Lucky, which isn't a bad thing, but they're somewhat lackluster for the extra berry cost. Maybe a 3DP start of turn would help circumvent that but it could also make it harder, and the ability to sell from card packs or not take the free cards, just my two cents though, thank you very much for the game <3

(+2)

Same here, I made this account like 2 days ago because I wanted to recognize his efforts, this is an amazing game indeed.

(SPOILER ALERT!!! Just in case you want to find out which pokemons are in the game by yourself don't read any further)

About your questions I have Zapdos and Entei, which means that the others may be here too (Also MissingNo, which I also have), it doesn't matter if you get a new packet of cards or choose from free cards, I got Entei from a Free Card and both Zapdos and Missigno from Packets of Cards.

(+1)

Okay thank you, I needed to know if they were in because I've been mass spamming the packs hoping to find any other Legendries but because I capped out on berries and had like 8 copies of every other Pokemon the game ran super slow when in the Poke Inventory and had to make sure I wasn't bogging myself down for no reason lol

(+2)

Thanks for letting me know, that explains why my game is running as slow as a Snail, well, I'll have to sell some cards then, and just a suggestion, you can give your cards the "Harvester" Glyph, so when you use them they give back any berry you used to summon them, a combo that I use is "Lucky" + "Harvester" so when I summon the card I get 2dp and also when it faints I get back the berries to summon any card I got in my han

(+1)

Harvest+Lucky+Memento is undoubtedly the strongest trio of Glyphs in the game in my opinion. +2DP on play, +2DP on death and berry refund is stupidly broken. It's hard to find all three to throw on one thing but I just put it on the Entei I found and he's a beast :)

(+3)

Same here, I also made an account just to talk about how much I love this game LOL

(+1)(-2)

I don't like the balance.

After gym leader 3 each fight has worse and worse odds of winning.  I am forced to put garbage into my deck as the minimum deck size increases.  Unless I want to grind loops MANY times to fully upgrade that garbage, my odds of drawing good cards drop significantly after each gym battle.  The minimum deck increase should be lower.  Also the fade to black after each battle is about 5x too long.

Plays card game, complains about the odds

Bruh

What benefit does Evolution offer?  I thought it would amplify the stats gained by levelups, but I tried that theory by evolving Bulbasaur into Venusaur, but the level up results after that weren't much different from what Bulbasaur would get. Mind you, I haven't gotten past the first gym so my level cap is still 2.

(1 edit)

afaik evolution doesn't change their stat progression but it does give a one time stat boost, a bonus level up basically

Also, some pokemon gain new types by evolution (not many in gen1/2)

(+4)

I must say, I created an account here, just to leave a comment complementing the game, really simple, but extremlly fun, an amazing casual game, really well done, congrats for the idea and execution.

(+2)

I just finished the game, Really good, TBH better than the pokemon card game in my opinion

(+1)

Thank you so much!

(+3)

Your game is so awesome ! I think your game has a real potential :)

(+1)

I can't wait for the gen 3 and gen 4 updates.  Gardevoir and Lopunny are my two favorite Pokemon. xD

download link seems to be dead. discord link is too. Which is a shame! I really wanted to play this!

Updated Discord link! Thanks for the heads up, it changed for some reason.

Download seems to be working properly by the way, please try again!

(+1)

Ah, my mistake! Turns out Itch doesn't play nice with my VPN

(+1)

This game is super fun! I've been having a really great time with it. I wanted to ask a quick question. Are certain events more likely to happen in certain cities?

The reason I ask, is that in my playthrough, it felt like "Tribute" and "Evolution" became increasingly rare the further I progressed. Idk if it was just my luck, or if that's part of the game.

Keep up the great work! This is rad!

The chance stays the same throughout the game! Lady Luck is just unpredictable sometimes.

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you're enjoying it!

All opponent main decks have a limit, and they're never bigger than the maximum deck size, even for gyms.

I appreciate the feedback, but many of your suggestions just really go against the base gameplay style and strategy design I set for it, and would completely change the game in ways opposite to what I want it to be. I understand no game mechanics are for everybody though, and I appreciate you giving the game a try.

And again, thanks for the feedback!

I will agree that I'd like to see you get more than one bonus point of damage when type advantages overlap (ala 4x weaknesses).  You could have stated your case for it better though lol

Will this ever come to android?

Two suggestions:

- Can you put a "Sort by Berry type" in the mon select screen?

- It gonna be nice have a "withdraw" button on the played mons to back them to our hand and replace to another mon on the same place. It gonna be a trick over the elements or replace some played trees and rocks.

(+2)

I miss the "sort by berry type too" it would be great

(+1)

This looks so GOOD! I can't play it, though.. I'm on Linux. :(

(+1)

I believe wine plays it just fine!

(+1)

I use Lutris for this game on a Linux system and it works just fine.

Add the path for the .exe and install wine.

(+1)

You can also use Steam's "add a non-steam game to my library" and then Properties > Compatibilty and check Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool

You can WHAT?

(+1)

I have never been able to figure out Wine and Lutris, but learning that I can force run things with Proton is a bloody game changer! Thank you so much!

(+1)

With Lutris, Wine, and Proton, most games can be run stably in Linux nowadays.  The only issue I've had so far with Fedora 35/36 is multiplayer in Borderlands 3.

I appreciate that. I'm still new to Linux, having only installed Mint within the last 3 or so months. While I'm enjoying it, I'm still learning things all the time. Lutris and Wine are on my to-do, but I've been dreading it.. Not entirely sure why, but I have been.

Are you supposed to not be able to save your progress between the final fights and have to do it all in one sitting?  I quit out after winning the first battle, and upon reloading the game saw that I had to redo it.

Yep, just like the original games, you can't save in-between fights during the League. There's a message in the bottom right corner that says "saving disabled" during that part.

Huh, interesting.  I never played the originals, just the pinball spin-offs.

(+3)

the long awaited 'attack all' function.. hahaha.. but could you include an attack all button for mouse users too?

maybe soemthing simple as right click in the buttom to pass turn, than everyone attacks, before the turn end

(+2)(-1)

For the love of god please use this as a stepping stone to a game with an original IP. It's so good and you deserve compensation for your work. Only thing it needs is a roguelike mode.

(+2)

Suggestion: for the keyboard shortcuts, while using TAB to go over the cards in hand, we could use the numbers [1][2][3][4][5] to select the position we want to play it and if there's already a card in there, it makes the card attack

(+4)

Could you make it so you can just click card and destination slot, as well as add an "attack all" button? Feels sluggish to have to drag and drop to place cards, or have to click each one to attack.

(+2)

Thanks for the feedback!

(-6)

so if I can't beat the first gym leader and am forced to redo the first route which is even harder. I can't beat the trainers because the game is grindy and there is little skill. don't get enough money to power up enough to beat 2nd gym leader so I have to keep going forever??? it's incredibly boring as well, it's like tic tac toe in that even if know a great strat you just eat shit against the wrong trainer with bad luck. also, WHY can I only level things once???? I don't want to waste my money on other mons which I don't want just so I can actually scrape by. hate this game and I mean it please fix everything... you can't cancel it when you level up as well, this game is fucked ong

(+2)

Are u so mad because u like the game and you struggled on the second route so u decided to write a more emotional post?
But consider that this game is completly free and is made by one guy as hoppy project.

There is some stuff that should help:

1) You can level up as many times as you want in the screen as long you don't reach the level cap or u don't have enough money. You can also leave the level up screen if you don't to level up a Pokemon.

2) You can also go back to the first route and grind there if the current route is to hard.

3) If you enter a Trainer Match you can instantly leave the battle and skip the trainer this way

4) Don't stay to long in the sun if you are made out of milk, else you will get sour milk.

The Tic Tac Toe reference doesn't make sense, till you can't loose in this game even if your opponent has the best strategy, because it simple mechanic and has zero luck to it and not really comparable to this game in terms of luck.

There is a guy who finished this game in round about 2:30h and that is not that much. The skill you need for this game is to grind efficient and this is one of the fun parts of the game.
