Played it up until the 2nd gym so far and I've got to say I'm loving it. Looking forward to seeing more of it!

If anyone's interested here's my experience of it

You linked to this same website! Did you mean to link to a YT video or Twitch stream? I'd love to see it!

Oh lol, meant to link this one

Fastest Patch in Pocket League History ^^

Deleted 2 years ago
(+1)

Thank you for the report! I had to delete your comment to avoid any exploits, but thank you for real! I genuinely appreciate it.

Good catch. It also works with:

- Evolution
- Tribute
- Glyph

Personally i would be cool when use a bug like this in an offline game and have fun with, but i am not the owner so anyway.

(+1)

what was the bug?

(+2)

If you really want to know it, then join their discord and send me a PM.

Owner moodytail deleted the post because he doesn't want the bug exploit to show up here and he already patched it so i respect that.

okay! :D understandable

Hi! I had a lot of fun with this game. Building decks is very enticing and fun. However, I feel this game is very grindy. Most of the time I didn't spend time strategizing or building synergies, I was just endlessly playing catchup trying to get most of my deck up to speed. And because the decks get bigger each area, it takes increasing amounts of time, especially with inflating level up costs.

I didnt find glyphs very valuable, as the ability to spam out mons for 1 berry with consistency is much better than occasionally drawing a mon with small upsides, especially if those upsides mean I have to pay 2 different colored berries now.

So yeah, I'd love to see ways to reduce the grind and add more impact to glyphs as well as improve the consistency.

Thanks for the feedback!

(1 edit) (+1)

U can use Enigma berries for everything.
To be fair, it's not that easy to balance the whole glyhps part and make it even more usefull and fun to use.

Maybe if it would be cool if the glyphs could be used multiple times on the pokemon instead of one or make them interact more with each other like counterattack and piercing should trigger the vampire glyph or buff the glyphs memento and harvest because you always pick lucky over memento and harvest

Enigma Berries are fairly rare and there isn't a big payoff to mixing berry types in the first place.

any chance for a mac download

You can try parallels and report to us if it works

I spent a ridiculous amount of time over-preparing for each gym leader, and going through them was still somewhat difficult. I had so much fun playing this game, and I hope future updates make it more amazing! Thanks for the challenge, you made a great game here.

(+1)

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the game!

End of this epic trilogy 😀:

"Pocket Crystal League, my wonderful deck after a beautiful grind Part.3: Lum Berry Deck"

https://youtu.be/zxrpMrpIiBM

(1 edit) (+2)

Final Endboss Duncan is confused [Spoiler]

I made a deck to kill the enemy as fast as possible with the glyphs lucky/piercing/courage and good attacker. The Endboss Duncan was suprised.

(+2)

Hahahahahaha that's amazing!

(1 edit) (+2)
lol, it seems that the AI sometimes spends a few turns casting almost no pokemon cards, my guess is because the correct berries don't appear for the pokemons of mixed types of berries it has, I wonder what the truth is.
(+2)

I would agree with you.
Since Duncan has a deck that uses all 3 types of berries he probably had just bad luck with the drawing.

(+2)

I'm not sure if it's a good thing about Pocket Crystal League or a bad thing about the Pokémon games, but this is the only Pokémon game I've played where I had trouble with gyms.

(1 edit) (+1)

Yeah, the first gym leader was a nightmare and took some tries. But i was good feeling when u finally beat them.

(4 edits) (+3)(-1)

I'm still impressed with this game, currently it's more interesting than my paid games 😆

"Pocket Crystal League, my wonderful deck after a beautiful grind Part.2: Leppa Berry Deck"

https://youtu.be/tyGkGyd-UtM

(+1)

Thank you!! That's such an amazing deck!

(+2)

I like that you are the first i see with Leppa Berry instead of Oran and there you have 2 of my favorite Pokemon in your Team:
Muk and Genger ...... so i have to like it *_*

(+2)

"I like that you are the first i see with Leppa Berry instead of Oran"

Yeah, it was something I found for replay value, I'm close to finishing my Lum Berry run

 🎈

(+1)

Hi All, What dictates the battle rewards? (the rewards say a range, but ofcourse I want to get the most possible per battle)

(+2)

The reward is randomly generated and will be within that range. That's all there is to it.

(+1)

Do you take donations?

I genuinely appreciate it, but no. It would definitely help, but I don't want to tempt Big N's hand. Thank you so much though!

(+1)

Good argument. Big N is merciless when it comes to such tiny projects.

(1 edit) (+2)

Thanks to @isolethisname for coming up with the idea to edit the save file. After a quick look i found out, that you can do a lot of cool stuff with it and sometimes it gets a bit weird, i guess that is what you mentioned as "spaghetti code".

I used this website to look into the dat.save file: https://www.saveeditonline.co

You can a lot of stuff like:
 - amount of berries
- money
- pokemon level
- glyphs
- pokemon
- tribute level
- and more...

You can also do some funny stuff like give turn a tree into a Ditto with the Transform Ability and it will behave like a Ditto but with Zero Berry cost.

You can also stack Glyphs like courage, but unfortunately the effect does not stack.

The spaghetti part is, that the game give a ID for each card, and everytime you buy or sell cards it will give all cards a new ID wich explains the lag, when you sell cards.

The game still makes a lot of fun, really good base ^^

"The spaghetti part is, that the game give a ID for each card, and everytime you buy or sell cards it will give all cards a new ID wich explains the lag, when you sell cards."

wow thats horrible lol. that explains why the game becomes unplayable once I have too many cards..

(+2)

It doesn't tho! The ID/serial stays the same after selling the cards. There would be no point in re-assigning them.

My code is definitely spaghetti tho, but for different reasons!

(+1)

Yeah, thanks for clarification :D

(1 edit)

@General Banane what did you do to your sav file to look like a spread sheet format? this is what i see with my file on the save editor website: any help is much appreciated. *edit* I'm using windows 8 tablet pc.

How hard would it be to port this to android?

(3 edits) (+1)
What if the player had a reroll button on that screen?
https://img.itch.zone/aW1nLzkwNDA4MjIucG5n/original/5ZgK9f.png
It can even cost a little money
(-2)

spaghetti code! i was messing around with the SAV data file to try to edit pokemon .... well i couldn't. i have no idea what is what. what i want to edit is: atk, hp, def, berry type / amount of berries. editing cash wasn't to hard just editing pokemon is impossible with spaghetti code. the game is fun. a few things could be added; sort pokemon by berries type, a way to tell what pokemon can evolve & can't, a poke dex maybe? to help players know what pokemon they are missing. those are just suggestions though.

(+6)

I mean... its not the job of the dev to code in a way so you understand easily? Nor is it their job to code in a way to allow for easy manipulation.

even if you do nothing else, maybe consider adding the gen 4 evolution to the gen 2 Mon like sneasle and swinub, to help make them more viable

(+1)

Awesome game and great music and fun game

(+1)

Have been very much enjoying this game, and think the enigma berry changes are very appropriate and effective. Been trying to complete a pokedex of sorts, currently just missing Unown EIQ? and 8 legends (have 3x Suicune, MissingNo., Sylph Ghost, and Moltres). Really appreciate the very unique stats on the ghost and MissingNo.

Only things I'd change would be some way to clear/transfer glyphs (maybe through tribute?), have some reward for beating Duncan (currently doesn't even give money), and make some more consistent way to get legends or avoid dups (maybe tie into beating Duncan?).

(+2)

Is there any way to have multiple save files? Also, is there anything like a New Game Plus?

You can go to the save folder (C:\Users\(NAME)\AppData\Local\PocketCrystalLeague) and rename your "data.sav" file to start a new one!

There's no NG+ for now, though, sorry!

(+1)

Thank you! This worked for me. I really enjoyed playing your game, looking forward to going through the experience a second time!

(+1)

I think tributes having a chance to fail was fine

(+1)

Thanks! But I wanted to make it a little less confusing and it's already a rare event.

(+1)(-1)

The game is mostly fun but the berry draw algorithm is frustrating. I have more oran than Leppa but consistently get a 3-1 Leppa to Oran ratio. Not sure if this is just the randomizer hating me or an issue with the randomizer itself. Also, gyms getting to have strictly better cards than you just feels like it forces you to grind. I'd give the game a 6/10 and recognizing the promise in the game.

(+1)

Thanks for playing, I appreciate it!

(+1)(-3)

git gud

(2 edits) (+1)

Bit iffy on the tribute mechanic. Sorta understand it from the comments here, but do the stats and level of the cards influence the outcome? Like does sacrificing a strong card to a weak or strong one give it better boosts (if it works) than a weak card to a strong or weak card?

Also, does evolving pokemon before levelling them up provide better stats in the long run? Example: does levelling a charizard from 1 to 5 provide better stats at level 5 than a charmander levelled to 5 and then evolved to charizard?

Lastly, do you plan to create a discord for this game? Could be very beneficial for everyone having that available.

(+2)

The order of the events doesn't matter! You can evolve and level up your cards in any order. And the tribute boost only depends on the card receiving it, regardless of what card is used as the tribute.

I do not have plans to create a Discord, since I don't really have time to moderate it. But I'd be more than happy to join and chat or answer questions from time to time if anybody creates one.

Thank you!

(+1)

You could always have others help mod the server? I for one don't mind helping out in that regard as I have experience with both helping other servers and making/running my own, so I may make that server then if you'd allow and express no interest in making it yourself?

Feel free to! And let me know so I can join!

(1 edit) (+1)

Chikrum#0022 add me on discord. I've set up the basics, just gotta add in some bots and set them up + add some information to certain channels, and we're all good. I'd like your input on a few things though before finishing up (like the information that goes into certain channels).

(+1)

I'd be down to help if the need is there.

(+1)

I'm addicted to this game it's so good. I just beat the elite 4 and the final boss and i've been farming for enigma berries and legendaries. No luck on legendaries so far but got plenty of enigma berries. The only suggestions i would have is to implement quick sell pokemon in inventory button, because right now it is a hell to sell all pokemon from opened packs, and maybe being able to skip fights after beating final boss, so it's quicker than going into battle and stalemating. Either way the game is amazing and i'm having an amazing time playing it.

(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! And make sure to download the latest update, too! I just posted it.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

(+1)

The Enigma berries being wildcards is an amazing addition, but because of that, once you get enough of them it completely removes the need to use any other type of berry. While they are still somewhat rare, anyone who loops through the same area 20 times will get a handful of enigma berries due to the increased drop rate, which, due to their new strength, might be a little too high of a drop rate. Maybe thats just me, but I wanted to leave that here.

Thanks for the feedback!

The drop rate is definitely still pretty low tho, even after the update. Maybe you're getting some lucky drops? But yes, farming them is an option, just like farming for money.

(1 edit) (+1)

It's a really addicting game. I am still not tired of the music an all but in the end game there is a bunch of stuff, that could be improved:

1) Glyphs
      - Give us an option (event) to remove the glyphs from a pokemon.
Maybe through tribute the glyphs will also be transferred
      - The option to reroll glyphs for money

2) Legendary
      - Maybe guaranteed to get a legendary in every 40 packs

3) Hotkey
      - The option to unpack the cards and also to skip the screen                  with spacebar or something like that

4) Card Packs
       - Would be cool if you could buy more than 1 Pack.

My only legendary Pokemon ist 3x Celebi, maybe I am just to un(lucky), but i still have fun with this game and want to complete the Pokedex

Thanks a lot for the ideas!! And wow, that's a LOT of Enigma Berries!

(+1)

I updated to the new version but the Enigma Berries still aren't working as wildcards. Any advice on this issue?

(+1)

What files from the new update did you transfer to the game folder? Because if you didn't transfer all, that could be why.
Anytime you update it, just transfer all 3 files to the game folder and overwrite the old ones. That should do the trick.

Hmm, that's strange. When you open the game, what version does it say on the bottom right corner of the title screen?

(+1)

is there a way to keep your saves when downloading the new version?

(+1)

You can download latest version and extract it in the game folder. Your save file is still there.

we downloaded the new version and it didnt carry over at all

(4 edits)

The save files are located in a different folder (C:\Users\(NAME)\AppData\Local\PocketCrystalLeague), so they should be loaded no matter what version you're playing or where the game is located.

Are the files still there? What happens when you launch the newest version? Are you playing on the same computer, or transferred the files into a different one?

(2 edits) (+3)

i got a ghost card with a - as its name @O@

(+1)

woa where did u get that

(+2)

got it from a card pack, just like any other card :O wonder how many other secret weird cards are still hidden waiting to be found haha

(+1)
I also found one on "free cards"
(+2)

Thank you for making this great game. I've been enjoying it a lot but I also believe every game has room for improvement. So here are my honest opinions and I hope they may help you in making even greater games.

1. The use of berry

It is usually optimal to use just one type of berry:

a) There is little to no card draw manipulation in this game, and the opportunity cost of drawing an unusable pokemon due to the mismatch of berry colours is just too high.

b) The berry costs of some pokemons are still single-coloured after adding glyphs. It's not hard to build a single-type-berry deck.

c) Though it limits your choices of pokemons, type advantages mean very little to this game. +1 damage is insignificant when a pokemon is dealing 5 to 10 damage each turn. The absence of type resistance further diminishes the importance of type diversity.

2. The progression system

At every stop, players are given 2 to 3 choices. This restriction doesn't seem to add a lot to the gaming experience, as players are always allowed to turn back when they reach the gym, meaning that every type of choice can be made available given that the players keep turning back from the gym.

Thus, this restriction doesn't really do its job but makes the game grindy instead. Sure players can choose not to grind. But there is a saying, "given the opportunity, players will optimise the fun out of a game." Understandably, players would want to create the strongest team they can before they battle the gym leader. If they want to do so, they would have to keep turning back and grind until the desired choices appear.

I usually have more money than I need throughout this game, as the battle nodes tend to appear more than the evolution/tribute nodes.

Since all nodes except the free money/card nodes have a cost to take, be it money or a pokemon, it makes sense to remove the free money/card nodes and allow players to choose whatever nodes they want.

3. The minimal deck size requirement

Once again, due to the lack of card draw manipulation, it is usually beneficial to keep our deck size minimal. However, beating a gym seems to increase the minimum deck size by 3 every time, forcing us to use more pokemons, and thus train more pokemons.

Without the freedom to choose whatever nodes we want, it is quite grindy to train new pokemons. And since type advantages are almost non-existent, it does not feel rewarding to train new pokemons too.

All in all, thank you for your effort. I would be thrilled to see any new game coming from you.

(+1)

Thanks a lot for your feedback! I'll definitely keep it in mind for the future, it's very helpful.

(+1)

Keep up the good work!

(+3)(-1)

I actually disagree somewhat with those. The berry issue should be fixed with the enigma change (which i havent tested because for some reason when i launch the 1.201 version it keeps launching the 1.000)

- There isnt a lack of draw power as having 10 rock/tree with momento + lucky out of a 30 card deck gave me enough draw power to run thru my entire pokemon stack in every fight.

that being said a new glyph that would let you search a pokemon with the same type as the card played or let you search the berry stack for a specific berry type might be really good to push more deck variation/combinations and make multi berry decks better than mono berry depending on how rare enigmas still are (because once uve got like 30 enigmas then it doesnt really matter anymore)

- the constant increase in min deck size does feel a bit awkward at certain stages of the game i will agree because its an instant consistency break in your deck at early levels but i dont think its going to be nearly as bad with the berry change.

- The tribute node should probably show up more but im totally fine with it being a one use thing since its free (alternativly you could keep the same spawn rate but make it unlimited use however it would cost progressivly more the more you use it in a single instance so you cant just hit a tribute node and max ur deck then and there)

- i said this last time buti think the biggest push forward (outside of including more pokemon/content) is to add more pokemon specific glyphs like how pokemon have abilities in the main series games. similar to what youve got going for wheezing and ditto this will make it less about loading up my deck with what ever has the best stats and placing courage/shield/vampirism on them so they never die and more statigicly thinking about what each pokemon card offers my deck

once again this is such an awesome thing youve done ad we all cant wait to see what you do next!

(+1)

Thanks for your reply.

I played version 1.100 so I'm not aware of any berry other than Oran, Leppa and Lum. From my experience, glyph nodes are relatively rare to be seen, let alone the right one I need.

Your suggestion seems nice. I totally agree that some pokemon-specific glyphs would make the game more fun than it already is.

Currently, pokemons in this game are mostly distinguished by their base stats and sometimes their typings. Blastoise and Vaporeon usually serve different roles in battles in the main series. However, they are pretty much the same in this game due to the lack of abilities and physical/special split. It also doesn't help that there are an excessive number of Water-type pokemons in Gen I and II. The glyphs may help diverge their roles.

(+1)

Hey this game is so fun,,,, maybe im biased because i got some of my favorite mons early on but it's a real blast!!!!!

(+1)

Oh and it would be awesome to have a way to increment berry counts in your deck with +/- buttons or something... its a minor feature but its the only thing you cant do with a touch screen and it's really fun to play on a tablet!

(+1)

There is, hover your mouse over the berry type and use the arrow keys.

(+1)

sorry i meant specifically with a mouse input, as its currently the only mechanic that you absolutely need a keyboard for I think

(+1)

keybind for attack? like 1=first slot 2=2nd slot etc
also for choosing path?

(1 edit) (+1)
I'm thinking of saving this save file somewhere else, reset the data...
https://youtu.be/_Tduq7yGl8Y
(+1)

Holy craaaaaap that is AMAZING!!

(+1)

How in the world did you get the colored cards? I haven't figured out how to get them

(2 edits) (+1)

This is when you "tribute" a Pokémon 3 times. They gain 3 little hearts above that Card.

Pokémons that were "tributed" gain an "X" above the Card as well.

(+1)

ohhhhh thank you

(+2)

Beat the game very cool! Had more fun with this than the past 2 mainline games

Thank you so much!

(3 edits) (+3)
Wonderful game, thank you dev.
Well, I made a script for myself to attack with all the cards and put the card of the hand on combat slot with simple keyboard commands while something like that is not put in the game, whoever is interested is here:

Video demo:
https://youtu.be/HWsbEnRiCos
(+2)

That's very helpful, thank you!

(+1)

What's the best tributing method? How do I tell what mons have been used for triubtes in the past?

Cards that have been tributed have a little "x" mark at the top, meaning they can't be tributed or upgraded any further.

And cards that have received a tribute have little heart icons at the top. The more tributes a card has gathered, the higher the chance the next one can fail, but the chance is still always relatively low.

(+1)

It would be nice if I can tribute multiple times per encounter (like how I can level up multiple times per encounter). Would save A TON of time hunting for the tribute encounter!

(+2)

Thanks!

if you ever release a mac-compatible or browser version i would love to play!

(+2)

I have to say, Tribute being such a rare event is really painful when you can only do it once each visit.

I couldnt agree with you more, especially when you hit victory road where trainers have 50% of their decks as fully tributed mons. It's turned this fast paced addictively fun card game into a grindy slogfest. Game is incredible up until the final part purely because of the rarity of Tribute.

(+2)

This absolutely rules, and the rebalances in the new version are 100% welcomed. You've made an incredible game and only continue to improve it, so thank you so much for all the fun I've already had and will no doubt continue to have in the Crystal League!
